Equipment Rack Provides Adjustable Mounting
New Four-Post Telect Equipment Rack Provides Adjustable Mounting Depth for Data Centers

06/02/2011

Telect, a global provider of connectivity, power and equipment packaging solutions for communications networks, recently released an adjustable equipment rack solution engineered specifically for managing the variety of equipment typically installed in today's data centers – the four-post adjustable depth channel rack.

This new family of racks provides a simple and complete platform for equipment mounting in a variety of data center and other environments. Equipment such as routers and servers is often challenging to mount in traditional two-post racks due to the equipment's depth. The new racks from Telect feature a second set of vertical rails for securely mounting this equipment.

More significantly, cross-brace brackets can be installed at any location on the vertical uprights, solidifying the rack and setting the depth anywhere from 20 to 42 inches. This enables the secure mounting of a broad range of equipment.

This versatility also simplifies ordering and inventory management. With Telect adjustable racks, one system fits a comprehensive range of requirements; competitive racks are much more specific in terms of compatibility, requiring multiple configurations, part numbers and installation techniques.

The racks ship unassembled in a flat pack to simplify delivery and storage. Racks are simple to assembly to the user's specific depth requirements.

Additional features include:
  • Cross-brace brackets utilize existing 12/24 threaded rack-mounting holes for use anywhere on the rack
  • Each rack includes all components and hardware required for installation
  • Adjustable depth includes 20 to 36 inches with small bracket; 36 to 42 inches with large bracket
All Telect equipment racks and cabinets are manufactured in the heart of the North American telecommunications corridor in the company's Plano, Texas factory.
Telect Opens New Corporate Headquarters
Telect Opens New Corporate Headquarters Facility; Technology Investment Strengthens Company’s Commitment to Telecom Industry and Local Community

04/11/2011

Telect, a privately held developer and manufacturer of power and connectivity systems, equipment racks and cabinets, fiber optic, copper and other layer one network infrastructure solutions for communications and data center service providers, recently opened its new Advanced Development, Customer Services and Corporate Headquarters facility in Liberty Lake, Washington.

With increased emphasis on advanced development and customer services, Telect's new facility is representative of the company's commitment to innovation within its industry, as well as the strength and agility required to thrive in the new world of communications.

"The telecom market is growing again, with accelerated need for increased bandwidth in mobile devices and fixed broadband for the delivery of movies, data, voice, video conferencing, and entertainment," said Telect President and CEO Wayne Williams.

Williams said Telect's new facility provides the company with an opportunity to imprint its rich innovative DNA while at the same time respecting the decades of experience Telect brings to the evolving communications industry. "Our fingerprints of creativity are apparent in our new location," he said.

Telect's technology investment in the new facility is significant. The approximately 80 employees at Liberty Lake work in a near 85 percent Apple development and work station environment, with secure high-speed wireless and multi-plant connectivity with other Telect facilities in Plano, Texas and Guadalajara, Mexico. This investment reflects the spirit of innovation that permeates throughout Telect.

"Telect has quietly been developing new intellectual property for fixed line and wireless digital service providers," said Paul Knight, Telect's vice president of product development and marketing. "Our new facility is dedicated to advance development of power management, telecom and data center hardware and connectivity, as well as mobile device software and applications."

Telect's new facility is located at 23321 East Knox Avenue in Liberty Lake. Its previous Global Headquarters building was also located in Liberty Lake, a community in which Telect has played an active role for nearly three decades.
Panel Provides Platform for Managing High-Current
New Telect Power Panel Provides Platform for Managing High-Current Feeds; 2 RU Demarcation Panel Features Eight 125A Inputs

03/07/2011

Telect today released a new high-current demarcation panel, a compact and versatile solution that's optimized for protecting power to active equipment such as routers and servers.

The new panel features eight independent 125A "pass-through" power feeds, each of which can be protected with a high-current circuit breaker or TFD fuse holder (supporting TLS or TPS fuses).

The demarcation panel addresses a growing application in today's communications networks. As higher-current equipment is deployed in the field, network designers must find ways to deliver power from a battery distribution fuse bay (BDFB) to the equipment. Power requirements often exceed what typical secondary distribution panels can handle.

One approach is to run multiple high-current feeds (typically 60-70 amps) from a battery distribution frame and "demarc" them at the equipment rack. The feeds pass through a demarcation panel to the equipment, with a fuse or circuit breaker in the panel to protect the router or server.

Telect's demarcation panel accomplishes this in a compact footprint, with versatility to meet the requirements of nearly any situation. It also increases safety and long-term network power performance by locating the protection device (fuse or circuit breaker) close to the deployed equipment, rather than back at the BDFB.

Key panel features include the following:
  • Eight independent 125A feeds/positions
  • Accommodates circuit breakers up to 100A
  • Accommodates TPS fuses up to 70A
  • Accommodates TLS fuses up to 125A
  • Universal operating voltage – ±24V/-48V
  • Fits all standard 19" and 23" equipment racks
  • Industry compliance – UL, cUL and NEBS level 3 (pending)
  • All in just 2 RU of space (3.5" high)
The new panel, Telect part number 125DM08, is available now through Telect, Telect distribution partners, and Telect.com. For lower-capacity applications, 1 RU panels with four 100A feeds are also available.
Telect Donation to EWU Helps Create Power Lab
Telect Donation to EWU Helps Create Power Lab; Company Taking Active Role in Inland Northwest Education and Business Communities

01/24/2011

Telect will be honored at a dedication ceremony Tuesday at Eastern Washington University in Cheney, Wash., where a student lab in the College of Science, Health and Engineering is being named after the company.

The lab is the result of a donation of money and materials Telect made to the college last fall. In all, the donation included nearly $100,000 in laboratory equipment and furniture, along with $10,000 in financial assistance.

Telect, which manufactures infrastructure and equipment for communications networks, is an industry leader in power distribution, protection and management. Donating to a local university provided the company with an opportunity to invest in education, as well as to be actively involved in shaping the skill sets and competencies developed in technology-related education in the Inland Pacific Northwest.

"Getting involved with area universities is crucial for Telect as we shape our company into the future," said Paul Knight, Telect's vice president of product development and marketing, and also a member of the EWU College of Science, Health and Engineering Advisory Board.

"Telect is positioned for great opportunities in the coming years as the technologies we're developing play a critical role in communications networks, and by partnering with EWU we not only can improve the students' learning experience, but can also help to develop resources for our future," Knight said.

The dedication event is scheduled for Tuesday, January 25th at 1:30 p.m. in the EWU Computer Engineering Building Atrium in Cheney. The reception includes presentations by EWU President Rodolfo Arevalo and Telect President and CEO Wayne Williams.

"One of the guiding principles of our company is to be strongly involved in the communities where we serve," said Telect's Williams. "Partnering with institutes of higher learning is a natural fit for us, and we're happy to be part of the exciting programs at Eastern Washington, Gonzaga University, the University of Idaho and Whitworth University."
