In this configuration, the service provider's ONT (terminates fiber-optic cable) is installed on the outside (external) of the home. Cabling (Cat 5e, RG-6 Coax) is run from the ONT to the Telect Media Gateway (structured cabling & Ethernet switching chassis) that is either flush-mounted or surface-mounted inside the home. Within the chassis, termination modules are utilized to terminate the cabling and are cross-connected via patch cords to modules that interface to the outlets within the home.
